US Players Prove They Like to Gamble Online

A research organization in the US did some digging and found that of the people they surveyed, 12 percent admitted to gambling online in the past year, even though it is illegal. They also found that men are more likely to play poker and other online card table games while women tend to stick to online slots and bingo.

The research organization claims that movies such as Ocean’s Eleven and The Hangover glamorize gambling and pique the interest of previous non-gamblers. Men have a tendency to visit online casinos five times a year on average while the women surveyed said they only do it once.

How did land-based casinos fare during this survey? Both men and women stated that they would rather visit an online casino than a land-based one. The reason given was that online casinos offer much more in the way of promotions and bonuses and can be visited from the comfort of one’s own home.

One researcher suggested that the shift to online gambling was gradual making it more about advancing technology than the recession. Also, as computers become more common and it seems as though everyone has one, people are less afraid of online fraud than they once were and are savvy enough to recognize reputable online gambling outlets.
