US Ban on Online Gambling Not Working

As another argument for online gambling in the US, some congressmen are claiming that US players are completely unprotected then they sign up to an offshore casino. They also insist that regulating online gambling is the only way to protect players from the US.

The ban on online gambling only works to prevent online casinos from obtaining a license in the US. US players who still wish to gamble can do so as long as they join an online casino in a country where it is regulated and legal. In fact, imposing a ban on gambling online has not stopped US citizens from gambling. Every year there are more and more US players and some estimate that number to be past 1,000,000 people.

Those in favor of regulated online gambling believe that it will be the only way for government officials to maintain control over the industry and protect those who develop gambling addictions or those who become victims of fraud. Regulating online gambling will help to document and keep track of all things related to online gambling which will be useful for updated statistics, as well as to track revenue.

Many also agree that regulated online gambling will allow for more control than a nationwide ban because US citizens will continue to gamble, the only difference is the government may not know about it.
