Thunderstruck has been widely regarded as one of Microgaming’s most popular games. Launched in 2003, it was the software designer’s first runaway success, and had critics and players praising Microgaming’s name for the innovative technology used for Thunderstruck.
The game began with an impressive intro movie, animated with the symbols that have become synonymous with the Norse legend. Thunder and lightning struck the players’ screen as the hero of the game, Thor, took over the screen. This was one of the first instances of live animation in an online slots game, and would soon pave the way for other software developers who wished to include interactive elements in their slots games.
Now, almost 7 seven year’s after Thunderstruck’s release, we can finally expect to play a sequel. An impressive preview was played at this year’s ICEi show in London, as Microgaming announced that Thunderstruck 2 would be available by the end of the year.
Microgaming’s spokespeople stated that the same would taken online slots to a whole new level. With hand-painted graphics, a professional musical score and a wide range of special features, players can expect to be impressed.
Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever has voiced his excitement about the new game. “The quality of the graphics and special features are already looking out of this world!”, he says. “The game will contain unrivalled graphics, innovative gameplay and the best possible user experience”.
