Quebec Takes Online Gambling Responsibility Seriously

Quebec is one of several Canadian provinces to recently legalize online gambling and provide online gambling options for its citizens. And although the province received a lot of negative attention for the decision, the provincial government is proving that they are concerned about the well-being of their citizens and are closely monitoring all online gambling activity.

Quebec`s government has organized an advisory committee that will study the effects of online gambling so that they can be better prepared to deal with instances of gambling addiction, underage gambling and any other problems that might surface.

Quebec is preparing to add online gambling options to their provincial lottery this coming September.

The advisory committee will also be responsible for monitoring how the site evolves, as well as an extensive report on the games that are offered. The report is to be turned in within three years of the online gambling launch.

The committee will consist of university professors, therapists who specialize in addictive behaviour and experts in policing who will ensure that all guidelines and restrictions are met at all times. Quebec officials are clearly trying to prepare for every possible outcome and have provided several experts with a broad range of knowledge.

Quebec`s estimated online gambling market is estimated at $50 million per year, a significant amount of money that can be used to improve public programs in the province.
