PartyGaming Awaits Its Fate in US Gambling Market

Party GamingAs the US moves closer to legalized online gambling, any online casinos that violated the terms of the UIGEA and accepted US players are waiting to see if they will have a place in the US online gambling market. PartyGaming is one of the gambling companies that is unsure of their position and are anxiously awaiting the decision.

The online gaming bill states that “any online gaming site that conducted illegal activity in the US since the UIGEA bill will not be allowed to register or license any online gaming site in the US.” In order to maintain a position of responsibility, legislators must follow the bill precisely or they risk backlash from those opposed to the legalization of online gambling.

It seems as though PartyGaming and all the others who were quick to violate the UIGEA have gotten themselves into a bind. The online gaming market in the US is arguably the second largest in the world (next to the UK) and is worth billions of dollars per year. While legislators have been working out the dynamics of an online gambling bill, the UIGEA has been in full effect. Any online casino operators who accepted US players anyway were found to be in violation of the UIGEA and were therefore banned from the US gambling market should the laws change at some point.

PartyGaming executives are hoping that they will be allowed back into the US market at some point and are looking into all their options.
