Online Casinos Rejoice over Rough Northeast winters

Northeastern US has had a very active winter. Several states have been slammed repeatedly with record amounts of snow and blizzard conditions. Online casino operators have noticed the pattern between the winter weather and increased number of visits to online casinos instead of land-based casinos.

Atlantic City, one of the gambling capitals of the US, has reported substantial loss in revenue over the winter months. The city has been feeling the pinch caused by online casinos and a bad winter has only made things worse. People are slowly discovering that they can gamble at online casinos for less money (due to the promotions and bonuses that land-based casinos are unable to offer) and without having to make a messy commute.

Now that people have discovered the ease and convenience of online casinos, will they forgo land-based casinos altogether? Or will land-based casinos be able to cover some ground in the upcoming spring and summer months? Land-based casino operators are predicting further loss, to the point of having to close their doors.

Studies done throughout the winter have shown that regular land-based casino patrons have been making the switch to online casinos to avoid the messy weather; as many as 30 percent of people in snowy regions try online gambling as an alternative. While this seems like a temporary problem, these players are unlikely to switch back after discovering the luxury of gambling from their own home, therefore causing land-based casinos to lose that revenue permanently.
