Obama to Make Nice with Gambling Industry after Detrimental Comment

President Barack Obama is heading to Las Vegas in an attempt to smooth over some upset caused by a comment he made. He stated that US citizens should not be spending their money gambling in Vegas, especially with the current state of the economy. Of course it was meant to be taken as advice but casino operators are worried about any further negative implications to the industry.

Land-based casinos reported a drop in revenue in 2009 and cannot afford any bad publicity. As such, they were notably bothered by Obama’s comments and are concerned that they will have an effect on people.

The online gambling industry, however, has only reported increases in revenue as the years pass and it would appear as though the recession did not affect them at all. In fact, online casinos are doing better than ever.

The US president will spend two days in Las Vegas promoting the gambling industry and encouraging people to actively participate in the pastime. He will, however, also stress the importance of gambling in moderation and setting spending limits.

Those in the gambling industry, especially the Las Vegas area, are satisfied with the president’s impending visit and feel that it will go a long way in mending any type of rift between them. Likewise, the president is hopeful of a successful trip and the chance to put an end to any hard feelings.
