Phil Ruffin Makes Prediction for the Future of Gambling

The name Phil Ruffin is known in the casino industry as being a bold businessman. And it was no surprise when he made the confident statement that the Las Vegas strip will be booming by 2020. In fact, he bet on it to the tune of $3 billion.

Ruffin backed his claim with the assurance that the government will soon be in favour of legalized online gambling because the promise of revenue is too persuasive to turn down. He feels that the US will have regulated online gambling within the next 10 years.

With high stakes in the land-based casino industry, he was quick to point out he did not feel that having regulated online gambling in the US would be detrimental to casinos. He claims that their shows are enough to keep people coming back and said that he expects Las Vegas to see a boost in travellers by tens of millions. He especially believes that the experience that Las Vegas offers will be enticing enough to players and the online casino industry will only serve to increase Las Vegas’ traffic. Ruffin assumes that people who gamble online will want to experience the real thing at some point and that will bring them to Las Vegas. People who have never gambled, online or otherwise, will have no reason to go to Las Vegas.

Remaining true to his nature, Ruffin has made some audacious predictions for the casino industry over the next decade and it will be interesting to see if he is right.
