Recently, a company that is dedicated to providing consumer reports and statistics announced that there has been a significant decrease in the number of adults who visit land-based casinos. The company stated that males aged 25-34 were most likely to visit a casino with their female counterparts in the second highest group.
The decrease in casino patrons has been slow and steady, making it improbable that the decrease has to do with the recession. Instead, the company suggests that players are moving to the online versions for the benefits of bonuses and promotions not available in land-based casinos and also because of the convenience. So while trips to the casinos are down, the numbers clearly indicate that people are still gambling, even in areas where there is an online gambling ban in effect.
It was also stated that men are more likely to wager large amounts of money while women generally prefer to stick with smaller amounts. In fact, the average amount wagered by a man is $501 but just $140 for women. This figure shows a significant difference between the betting styles of the two sexes and suggests that men take a more aggressive approach. Betting styles don’t change when the venue is switched to an online version. Men continue to bet higher than women on a consistent basis.
Online casinos are proving to be tough competition for land-based casinos and the chances are high that this trend will continue. Society is moving towards technology and online casinos allow players advantages that are too good to pass up.
