The Kahnawake Gaming Commission regulates many online casinos, online poker rooms and online sports books in the Mohawk territory of Kahnawake. Recently, a deal was inked between the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and the gambling regulator of Antigua and Barbuda.
The deal is being called an inter-jurisdictional alliance which gives both sides access to conduct their business interchangeably. Both sides state that this is a good thing for them because it allows them to expand their business without violating or changing any of their gambling laws.
And because Antigua and Barbuda are linked to the British gambling market, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission now has access to that as well. Being that they aren’t doing so well in their native Canada, (the KGC has burned their bridges with both Ontario and Quebec’s governments), the new deal means the potential for more income.
This unprecedented agreement allows each of the parties to skip steps and move freely within the other’s gambling market. The licensing application is a much smoother process, which makes it a great business deal.
Antigua currently has 12 licensees while the KGC has more than 50 and has been in operation longer than any other gambling company. Natives in Canada have controlled the gambling industry until very recently, when the laws concerning operation were changed to accommodate government-regulated casinos.
