California Supports Online Gambling

Online gambling in CaliforniaCalifornia is one of the biggest proponents for legalized and regulated online gambling in the United States. Not only would taxing the activity contribute much-needed funds for the state’s growing debt; it would also create more jobs for its residents.

Currently, California is mulling over the possibility, considering the idea of launching a state-run online poker and online gambling website. The operation would give some notoriety and legitimacy to the industry while allowing the state to collect tax money from transactions.

Adam Probolsky of Probolsky Opinion Research has looked into the issue, and fully supports the launch of an online gambling website in California. He believes that the increase in jobs for residents is reason enough to pass the legislation. The United States has had a rough time recovering from the global recession and the first thing that must be done is decrease the unemployment rate, which online gambling would certainly do.

Probolsky states that 1 in 10 households gamble online, a much higher statistic than those that visit land-based casinos. This illustrates the need for regulation in the industry. He also notes that Orange County has the appropriate resources to launch and maintain an online gambling website.

The legislation for the service has yet to be passed, but it is gaining support from all over the state. Other locations in the United States have also used California as an example and are now considering launching their own online gambling websites.
