Bwin Regrets Pulling Out of American Market

BwinBelgium’s government is sticking to its decision to continue to ban online gambling. Although the European Union (EU) is pressuring them to join, the country is putting very strict conditions on the idea as they would rather keep things the way they are.

Specifically, Belgium is asking the Union to force established online casino operators to become licensed in Belgium. They also want to limit the number of operators allowed to do this to leave more room for Belgian operators. The government is also asking for Belgian operators to be given preference over international operators. The European Union has adopted the practice of treating all operators and Union members the same and is refusing to meet Belgium’s demands.

Belgium’s proposal would virtually eliminate any other country from profiting on the online casino industry in their country. This would guarantee Belgian operators’ success so it is easy to see why they would make these demands. The problem is that it is unreasonable to expect the European Union to vote in favour of this. Failing to comply with EU rules leaves Belgium open to the possibility of having to pay damages.

Players who live in Belgium would not want to have only Belgian operators to choose from because it will greatly restrict their choices on both casinos and games. This gives operators the opportunity to decrease the amount of bonuses and promotions and players are stuck with a lack of choice.
