BCLCThe British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has finally resolved their issues and will have their online gambling site, PlayNow.com, back online shortly.

A security breached caused a number of PlayNow users to become victims of credit card fraud when their personal information was released accidentally. The breach resulted in the site being shut down pending an investigation into the matter. PlayNow.com had only been running for a few hours when operators were forced to shut it down.

The entire event caused many critics to question the BCLC’s security methods and many people lost interest in online gambling. Credit card fraud is a major concern for anyone who shops or gambles online because people are trusting that the companies have enough security measures in place to protect their information.

The BCLC has no real answer as to why some of their players’ personal information was exposed and the recent investigation was meant to uncover whether it was done on purpose. What the investigation found was that it was an internal glitch and the error has since been fixed.

A spokesperson for the BCLC says that anyone who gambles online is doing so at the risk of having their information copied and that while the BCLC had taken all the necessary precautions, they made a mistake. It is unlikely that the BCLC will face any charges for the incident.
