Blackjack Dealer Gets Caught Cheating

Gambling is a competitive, sometimes ruthless activity and often persuades people to cross the fine line between luck and cheating. Such is the case for a blackjack dealer who found himself being prosecuted for helping several players cheat the casino out of more than $100,000.

The dealer was approached by a group hoping to swindle money from the casino with his help; all he had to do was perform several false shuffles. He was taught how to do so and this resulted in the significant loss in revenue for the unnamed casino. The man was only able to cheat two or three times before he was caught and prosecuted. Each time he performed the false shuffle he was paid between $2500 and $4000 for his troubles.

He now faces two months in prison, followed by three years of probation where he will be supervised and banned from entering any casinos. In addition to that he must pay back all of the money that he stole.

While cheating scandals are not unheard of at online casinos, the likelihood of any cheating going on is low. Those odds increase, however, when a live dealer is used since online gambling is completely random and computer-generated, until a live dealer is brought in. Any online casino that uses live dealers potentially puts itself at risk since in-house cheating can usually only occur when a casino employee is involved.
