A big step for Legalized Online Gambling in the US

Something had to give. In the fight to legalize online gambling in the US, opinions were basically split down the middle. The recent proposal to legalize online gambling has been balancing in midair as the courts make a decision regarding the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). Those in favor of legalized online gambling were convinced that they simply had to show those opposed to it that the dangers to society would not be much different than they are right now.

The American Gaming Association (AGA) was created in 1995 in an effort by the government to help others better understand the gaming industry. People can go there for information and come out feeling much more comfortable with the gambling and entertainment industries. The AGA recently announced their decision to be “open to the concept of legalized online gambling” in the hopes that others would change their minds as well.

With the help of the public education program, the AGA is dedicated to informing US citizens of the gambling industry’s message- to allow Americans to make their own decisions when it comes to online gambling. In an effort to listen to the concerns of the American people, the AGA will attempt to create more treatment centers and raise public awareness on the dangers of gambling addiction. The goal is to caution people not to get out of control but to still support the industry.
