Canadian Governments to Launch Mobile Gambling App

Provincial governments across Canada are individually looking into the option of offering online gambling websites to Canadian players. Many people have said it is too late for lotteries to take a share of the offshore gambling market, so they have devised a new plan – a mobile gambling application.
 
Partnering with Loto-Quebec and Atlantic Lottery, B.C. Lottery Corporation will create an online gambling network accessible to players from their smartphones. Although only three companies are on board right now, B.C. Lottery is expecting others to join, namely Ontario and Manitoba. By the time the application is launched, it is believed that all provinces will take part.

Online Gambling BillIn July, the HR 2267 (Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act) will be marked up in the House Financial Services Committee.

While the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act) is just one week away from being implemented, Congressman Barney Frank is still confident that his own Internet Gambling Act will still be passed. HR 2267 would establish a complete legal framework for online casino licensing and regulation – and it already has over 60 co-sponsors.
