Online Craps Rules

For any gamer wanting a casino game with multiple betting options and complex rules – look no further than the casino adventure that is Online Craps, all played in some of the most detailed and stunningly rendered online gaming lounges…

Getting to grips with Craps rules

Download one of our recommended craps casinos and you’ll soon seen why the game fabled in Las Vegas is so daunting for many new casino gamers – because in terms of betting rules, it leaves all other games gasping. However, once you have the basics, the game will become fast and furious fun.

To start enjoying awesome craps sessions, you need to understand the rules of how to bet, how to win and what constitutes a dreaded loss! So….here’s a quick but detailed outline of the rules, to help you get off to a flying start:

Pass Line Bet:

Placing a bet on the 'pass line' means that if you roll a 7 or an 11 you win, but lose if the dice hits craps (2, 3, 12). However, strike any other number and the dice converts into a ‘point’ – essentially meaning that if you can roll the same number again before a 7 is rolled, you win (but if you fail, you lose).

Don't Pass Line Bet:

Placing a bet on the 'don't pass line' rewards you with a win for rolling a 2 or a 3, but you’ll lose with a 7 or 11. Hitting 12 pushes the bet, voiding your wager. As with the pass line bet, you can make a point for another chance to win.

Come Bet:

The come bet is essentially identical to the pass line wager – however it permits you to define your own point (once a point has been set for the remainder of the table). Once a bet has been placed, your initial roll becomes your unique come point that you must hit prior to rolling a 7 – unless you like losing!  If you first play is a 7 or 11 you win, but lose on rolls of 2, 3 and 12.

Don't Come Bet:

As you can probably guess, the don’t come bet is the exact opposite of the come bet. Therefore, after your first wager, your initial roll defines the come point and a 7 must be hit before the point to receive a pay out. In addition, rolling a 2 or a 3 triggers an instant win, while 7 or 11 makes you a loser!

Betting with Odds:

Now here’s a cool craps rule that you definitely want to put in your note book – because the option of putting odds on your pass, don't pass, come, or don't come bets, is a smart way of boosting pay outs without simultaneously reducing your chances of success! Be aware that you can only place an odds bet once a point has been defined. Try this rule out for free to test its potency.

Proposition and Hardway Bets:

Now you’ve grasped the basic craps rules…..it’s time for some more fun, with the Hardway and Proposition Bets – all linked to the dice box on the left of the craps table (check out an online craps interface to see the dice):

Proposition Bets:

The proposition bet is many gamers’ favourite craps rule – because it’s so simple to put into action. The bet is based on one single throw of the dice, with winning pay outs for several scores:

Hardways Bets:

Hardway bets are also known as ‘double dice’ – simply because the rule rewards you for rolling several double combinations, with odds and pay outs between 7-1 and 9-1:

Big Six or Big Eight Bet:

The big six or eight wager can be selected at any point in the game – it’s simply a test of your luck and ability to roll a 6 or an 8 before a 7 – feeling lucky?

Field Bets:

The field bet is a fun bet which can deliver frequent rewards – essentially placing the bet is like buying a lotto ticket with the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 12. Rolling a 2 rewards you with 200% of you stake, a 12 delivers x3 your wager and all other numbers pay out at even money. Of course, rolling any numbers not included in the field bet makes you lose the wager.

Place Bets:

Place bets can raise the excitement in the game, after a point has been set – you can select any number from 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or the 10. Essentially you’re betting that the number you select is rolled before a 7.

Wow – now that has to be the longest rule book in online gaming… but taking a little time to try them all out will reward you with one of the casino world’s most exhilarating and entertaining games – are you on a roll?
