Understanding Progressive Slots Variations

Progressive jackpots are very popular in the online world, mostly because they offer some of the biggest prizes to players. While most slot machines offer set jackpots, which max out around $25 000, progressive slots are unlimited and can offer players the chance to win upwards of $1 000 000! But, how is it possible for these jackpots to climb so high without putting the casino out of business? Progressive jackpots take a small portion of each player’s wager and put it towards the total jackpot, allowing the top prize to climb rapidly. There are three major types of progressive slots:
Individual progressive slots are not linked to any other games, so every time a player places a wager on that particular machine the jackpot increases. The odds of winning this game are high, as there is less competition on the individual machine. However, these jackpots tend to be much smaller than other types of progressives.
Linked progressives are one step up from individual progressives. Several slots in one location are linked to one another, so all games contribute to one progressive jackpot. The odds of winning are somewhat lower than individual progressive slots, but players are eligible to win much higher prizes.
Multi-location or wide-area progressive slots operate on the largest scale, as machines from various online casinos are linked. These are the machines that boast the multi-million dollar jackpots, however they also present the lowest odds of winning.
